Adding to the humour was an on-screen text overlay that read, “When you have 35,000 unread emails, 5,000 WhatsApp messages."

Taylor Swift’s latest album may have divided critics but it has clearly struck the right chord with at least one high-profile listener in India: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. In a short, light-hearted Instagram clip, the Thiruvananthapuram MP is seen casually vibing to Taylor Swift’s ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, stealing a few moments of musical escape between meetings and work commitments.
Shot in what appears to be a conference room, the clip shows Shashi Tharoor gently swaying to the song, with a caption suggesting the moment was prompted by “the social media girl" deciding it was time for a break.
True to form, Shashi Tharoor paired the video with a witty caption that summed up the mood perfectly, “Somewhere between bilateral meetings at the Speaker’s Conference and the tyranny of my inbox, even a parliamentarian can become a Swiftie. Do the Swifties agree?"
Adding to the humour was an on-screen text overlay that read, “When you have 35,000 unread emails, 5,000 WhatsApp messages," as Shashi Tharoor continued to groove- as if briefly escaping the chaos through pop music.
Social media users lapped up the short clip as many were delighted to see what many called the “pookie side" of Shashi Tharoor, while Swifties flooded the comments section with heart emojis, song references and playful nods of approval.
Mixed reviews or not, Taylor Swift’s music has clearly found an unlikely admirer.
