‘Yoga helps keep body and mind free from illness’

Stressing the importance of yoga in maintaining physical and mental well-being, KBN University Pro Vice-Chancellor Syed Ashfaq Ahmed said that regular practice of Yoga, Pranayama and meditation can help keep the body and mind free from ailments and promote a healthy and disciplined life.

He was speaking as chief guest at the International Yoga Day programme organised on the KBN University campus here recently.

Highlighting the global relevance of Yoga, he said that Yoga programmes are being held at more than 2,500 locations and at Indian Embassies abroad as part of the International Yoga Day celebrations.

He underlined the importance of Yoga for people of all age groups and said that it helps individuals remain active and healthy for a long time.

Medical Dean Guruprasad, who spoke on the occasion, said that some form of physical exercise is essential for a healthy body. He added that Yoga is among the best practices for maintaining fitness and managing mental stress.

Commerce Dean Srinivas said that a three-day Yoga training programme organised by the university offered a valuable opportunity to participants. He thanked the university for organising such a meaningful event.

Yoga trainer Sujatha, speaking on the occasion, thanked the university for providing an opportunity to conduct the programme.

A large number of faculty members and students took part in the Yoga session. Among those present were Engineering Dean Subhash Kamal, Campus Dean Mohammed Azam, Praveen Nayak, assistant professors Sanganagouda, Badrinath and Raja Patel, along with Ifat Nigar, coordinators Atiya Sultana and Namrata.
