Youth killed in accident hours before marriage

A youth was killed hours before his wedding after his motorcycle collided with a KSRTC bus at Sreekaryam here during the wee hours of Monday.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. at Pangappara when the motorcycle of Ragesh, 28, of Chempazhanthy, rammed into a KSRTC-Swift electric bus that was headed for the Vikas Bhavan depot in the city.

According to the Sreekaryam police, Ragesh was set to marry a woman from Kattaikonam later in the morning at a temple. The families of the couple were reportedly opposed to the relationship. This prompted the duo to go ahead with the ceremony on their own.

The mishap is believed to have taken place when Ragesh was returning home after visiting a relative. Having suffered severe head injuries, he died on the spot. The police have instituted a probe into the incident.
