Delhi’s Public Works Department (PWD) has floated a tender worth Rs 60 lakh for extensive electrical and furnishing work at the official residence of newly-appointed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The tender, which is set to open on July 4, details a long list of electronics, appliances, and decorative fittings to be installed at her new government-allotted bungalow in the Civil Lines area.
According to the PWD’s tender document, this expenditure is for Bungalow No 1, where the Chief Minister will reside. A second adjacent bungalow, Bungalow No 2, has been earmarked as her future camp office, although no tender has yet been issued for that site.
Electronic Spend Runs High
The tender reveals a sizable allocation for modern electronic appliances, including:
- Rs 9.3 lakh for 5 LED televisions
- Rs 7.7 lakh for 14 air conditioners
- Rs 5.74 lakh for 14 CCTV cameras
- Rs 2 lakh for an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system
- Rs 1.8 lakh for 23 remote-controlled ceiling fans
- Rs 91,000 for 6 geysers
In addition to these, the CM’s residence is also set to be equipped with a range of high-end kitchen and home appliances:
- Rs 85,000 for an Oven-Toaster-Grill (OTG)
- Rs 77,000 for an automatic washing machine
- Rs 60,000 for a dishwasher
- Rs 63,000 for a gas stove
- Rs 32,000 for a microwave
Lighting and Interior Works
An elaborate lighting system is also part of the tender. The residence will feature 115 lighting fixtures, including wall lights, hanging lamps, and three large chandeliers. The total expenditure on lighting and interior elements alone is projected at Rs 6,03,939.
60-Day Deadline to Finish Work
The work is to be completed within 60 days of allotment, as per the PWD guidelines. Currently, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta resides in her private home in Shalimar Bagh. After her swearing-in, the BJP leadership clarified that she would not occupy the 6 Flagstaff Road bungalow previously inhabited by AAP leader and former CM Arvind Kejriwal.
Instead, Gupta has been allotted a Type-7 category bungalow, considered among the most elite in Delhi’s official housing roster, with high-end facilities meant for top-level government functionaries.
