140 surrendered Maoists meet Chhattisgarh CM Sai in state assembly

RAIPUR: On second instance during the budget session of legislative assembly, 140 surrendered Maoists from Bijapur and Kanker districts on Wednesday met chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai at the assembly complex and shared about the change in their lives after returning to the mainstream.During the interaction, the surrendered cadres spoke to the chief minister about their lives before surrender and the conditions they are living in now and they said they had once lived in forests amid fear, uncertainty and insecurity, but are now leading safer and more dignified lives with their families.In an emotional moment during the interaction, a few of the surrendered Maoists said they had celebrated Holi with their families for the first time, describing it as a new and deeply meaningful experience.

Welcoming them back into the mainstream, Sai said their decision marked a personal transformation and a step towards a brighter future for Chhattisgarh. He said by reposing faith in the Constitution, they had set a positive and inspiring example.The chief minister assured them that the state govt was committed to their rehabilitation, employment and social reintegration. He also reiterated that Maoism in the state was in its final phase.
