15-year-old boy held for ‘attempting to molest’ four-year-old girl

The Piler Police of Annamayya district on Friday (February 20) took a 15-year-old boy into custody on charges of attempting to molest a four-year-old girl near a construction site in Piler on the Piler-Madanapalle highway.

According to the police, the boy, who reportedly works at the construction site, noticed the girl passing by the highway and forcibly took her to an isolated spot where he tried to molest her. Hearing her shrieks, some students and locals rushed to the spot and rescued the girl.

The boy was said to have tried to flee but was thrashed by a mob. He was later rushed to the government hospital in Piler for treatment. The police said the matter is under investigation, and the boy would be shifted to a juvenile home.
