Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy on Friday (February 06, 2026) announced that the government has released funds to the tune of ₹236 crore for the development of the constituency and that works will be launched soon.

The project involves laying of a 200 km-long pipeline to connect to all the merged villages in the predominantly-rural constituency. Water tanks will be built at a cost of ₹125 crore in Parameswari Nagar, YSR Nagar, Akkacheruvupadu, and Ambapuram to rid the backward areas of drinking water crisis.

Similarly, ₹111 crore would be used to lay underground drainage system (UDS) for a running length of 51 km in six divisions of the Nellore city.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Sridhar Reddy recalled that his pleas for sanction of funds had fallen on deaf ears during the erstwhile YSR Congress Party regime, but the NDA government was quick to respond and sanction funds profusely, giving a concrete shape to his dream of making Nellore Rural ‘a developed constituency’.

He thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, district Ministers P. Narayana and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, district in-charge minister N. Md. Farook and Member of Parliament Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy for their positive intervention in getting the funds sanctioned. Mr. Sridhar Reddy announced that the works would be formally set in motion soon.
