UDUPI: The Amasebailu police personnel near Hosangadi check post seized a vehicle transporting two buffaloes illegally for slaughter on Saturday. Four accused were booked, and the cattle, valued at Rs 30,000, along with the vehicle worth Rs 4 lakh, has been seized.According to the police, while performing duty at Hosangadi Check Post near Muttinakatte in Hosangadi village of Kundapur Taluk, Police Constable Vinod B. Baganannavar of Amasebail Police Station stopped a vehicle that was coming from Hulikal Ghat towards the check post.On inspection, it was found that in the rear body of the vehicle, two buffaloes were tightly packed, tied in a cruel manner without providing any fodder or feed.
When the driver was questioned, he admitted that the cattle were being transported for slaughter with the intention of selling the meat. The accused in the vehicle were identified as Basavaraj, Meghraj, Lohith, and Imran.A case was registered at Amasebail Police Station under sections 4, 5, 7, and 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, Section 11(1)(d) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and Section 66(1) read with 192(A) of the IMV Act.
