HAL says 5 LCA MK1A aircraft 'ready for delivery'.
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) on Thursday issued a clarification on reports citing a delay in the delivery of indigenous LCA MK1A fighter jets, confirming that five aircraft are fully ready for delivery, incorporating major contracted capabilities in accordance with the agreed specifications. Upon receipt of engines from GE, HAL stated that these aircraft will be made ready for delivery. All design and development issues identified are being addressed in an expedited manner.

HAL is currently in active discussions with the Indian Air Force (IAF) to deliver the aircraft at the earliest. It stated that the company has received five engines from GE as of this date. The supply position from GE is positive, and the future delivery outlook aligns with HAL’s delivery plans, it clarified.
Additionally, HAL assured that it will meet the guidance projected for the current Financial Year.
HAL’s statement came following the reports regarding the delay in the delivery of the fighter jets. The delay was attributed to delays in supplies of critical parts by foreign vendors, but integration of all systems is also taking longer than expected.
As per the report, the aircraft was initially planned to be delivered by March 2025. However, the company revised its deadline to March 2026, which is also likely to be missed again.
Notably, the Air Force has ordered a total of 180 of the fighter jets amid growing shortage of combat aircraft.
