As many as 73,959 Ganesha idols were immersed in the city on Thursday, according to data from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
After recording 79,039 immersions on Wednesday, South Bengaluru once again reported the highest numbers among the eight zones, with 44,521 immersions. The West Zone registered the second-highest at 10,568, followed by the East Zone (9,306), Mahadevapura (2,737), Bommanahalli (2,347), Yelahanka (2,199), R.R. Nagar (2,113), and Dasarahalli (168).
Of the 79,039 idols immersed, 61,006 were placed in lakes and kalyanis, while 12,953 were immersed using mobile tanker facilities. The BBMP had arranged immersion points at 41 lakes and kalyanis across the city, in addition to deploying 489 mobile tankers. On Wednesday evening, the day of the festival, a massive 2.19 lakh Ganesha idols were immersed across Bengaluru.
