8 IIT-Patna teachers feature in US based scientists' global ranking platform

Patna: In a remarkable feat, as many as eight faculty members of Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT-P) led by its director T N Singh have figured prominently in the ‘World’s Best Scientists Ranking 2026’ released by US-based global ranking platform ‘Research.com’.This ranking is prepared on the basis of global research performance, quality of publications, citations, and the impact of scientific contributions.According to the ranking, IITP director T N Singh has secured the first position in India in the field of earth sciences. He has also been ranked 9th nationwide in the engineering and technology category.In addition, several other faculty members of the institute have achieved notable positions in different disciplines.

In mathematics, Pratibhamoy Das secured the 36th rank in India. In the field of computer science, Asif Eqbal and Sriparna Saha secured the 47th and 94th ranks respectively.In the category of mechanical and aerospace engineering, Surajit Kumar Paul ranked 78th, Akhilendra Singh ranked 88th, and Karali Patra ranked 102nd in the country. In the field of electrical engineering, Ranjan Kumar Behera secured the 58th rank nationwide.

Earlier, as many as 21 faculty members, including the director of IIT-P had figured in the list of top two percent scientists of the world released by Stanford University in September, 2025.Expressing his happiness over the achievement, director Singh said that the inclusion of the institute’s faculty members in the prestigious Research.com ranking is a matter of pride for the entire IIT-Patna family. He stated that the institute remains committed to promoting an environment of research, innovation, and academic excellence and ensuring its meaningful contributions to society and technological advancement.

“This achievement reflects the high-quality research being carried out at the institute and its growing academic reputation at the global level,” Singh added.
