Several actors have reacted strongly to the online leak of Jana Nayagan, starring Thalapathy Vijay. Veteran star Rajinikanth has now expressed his outrage, calling it a moment of “shock and pain” for the film industry.
He urged authorities to identify those responsible and ensure strict punishment.
Rajinikanth calls leak ‘shock and pain’
Rajinikanth took to X (formerly Twitter) and said such acts deeply hurt the industry. In his tweet, written in Tamil and loosely translated into English, he wrote, “The release of the ‘Jana Nayagan’ film on the internet by someone has caused shock and pain. Film associations must raise their voice against this, and the government must identify those responsible and impose severe punishment.
Such crimes must not be allowed to continue in the future.
”
Vishal calls it ‘truly disheartening’
Many actors have spoken out on the issue. Vishal termed the situation “truly disheartening,” adding that “so much effort, dedication and work [has been] thrown down the drain.”He also shared that he is a long-time fan of Vijay and expressed hope that audiences will still choose to watch the film in theatres.
Suriya calls leak ‘heartbreaking and unfair’
Suriya also condemned the leak, calling it “heartbreaking and unfair — an entire team’s passion reduced to this.”
He urged people “not to watch, share, or discuss the film,” adding that he stands with the team and describing the act as “unforgivable.”
Chiranjeevi and Sivakarthikeyan seek strict action
Megastar Chiranjeevi and actor Sivakarthikeyan on Friday sought strict legal action against those responsible for leaking actor Vijay's last film 'Jana Nayagan'.Taking to his X timeline, Telugu star Chiranjeevi wrote, "The unfortunate leak of #Jananayagan is something that deeply concerns me.
Cinema is built on trust, effort, and the collective dreams of many. Such incidents affect all of us in the industry and remind us how crucial it is to protect our creative work." He further wrote, "We stand one with KVN Productions in containing the damage and punishing the culprits. Let us all extend our support to respect and protect CINEMA! Kill Piracy. Save Cinema."Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan too urged people to wait for the film's theatrical release and watch it in theatres.Taking to his X timeline, he wrote, "Every film is made with the passion, blood and sweat of hundreds of people - please avoid piracy. Kindly wait for the theatrical release and watch it in theatres. Whoever is responsible for this must face strict action. Respect the talents. Respect the hard work. Respect the industry."
Makers warn of strict legal action
The makers of the film also issued a strong statement, warning of legal consequences. “It has come to our notice that certain scenes and clips from the said film, and in some cases most of the film, have been illegally accessed, copied and circulated by unidentified persons, posing a serious threat of digital piracy,” they said.They further added that “strict civil and criminal proceedings will be pursued against every offender without exception.”
About ‘Jana Nayagan’
‘Jana Nayagan’ is a highly anticipated film and is said to be Vijay’s farewell project. However, the film had already been facing hurdles even before the leak, as it is yet to receive its CBFC certificate.Directed by H. Vinoth, the film also stars Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol and Priyamani.
