Air India flight AI 2651, operating from Delhi to Bengaluru, experienced a tail strike incident during landing at Bengaluru airport on Thursday. The airline confirmed that the aircraft landed safely and all passengers and crew disembarked normally. Following the incident, the narrow-body Airbus A321 aircraft was grounded at the Bengaluru airport for inspection according to standard operating procedures. Consequently, the return flight AI 2652 from Bengaluru to Delhi was cancelled. According to sources, the tail strike occurred when the pilot attempted a go-around manoeuvre. This decision was prompted by wake turbulence created by a wide-body aircraft that had just taken off from the same runway. The pilot opted for the go-around to ensure safety amidst the turbulence, which led to the tail strike. India Today accessed visuals showing the incident's aftermath underneath the aircraft. Authorities are currently conducting further inspections to assess the extent of the damage and ensure the aircraft's future safety.
