Ajit Pawar’s Plane Crashed At Edge Of Baramati Tabletop Runway During Second Approach

A FlightRadar24 post said the jet carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was attempting a second landing at Baramati when it crashed, killing all five onboard.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar died on Wednesday morning after his chartered business jet crashed while attempting to land at Baramati airport.

Flight-tracking platform FlightRadar24 acknowledged the plane crash that killed Pawar and four others on board.

The post added that the jet crashed during the renewed landing attempt, triggering a major emergency response at the airstrip.

AJIT PAWAR KILLED IN PLANE CRASH: WHAT DGCA SAID

News agency ANI quoted the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) as saying that the Mumbai-Baramati chartered plane crash-landed at around 8.45 am at the runway threshold in Baramati.

All five people on board, including Pawar, died in the accident.

According to the details, Pawar was travelling with two accompanying personnel, a personal security officer and an attendant, while the aircraft was being operated by two crew members, a pilot-in-command and a second-in-command.

Authorities said further details about the circumstances leading to the crash were awaited.

Pawar had been heading to Baramati to attend a public rally for the Zilla Parishad elections.

A day earlier, he had been in Mumbai for a meeting of the Maharashtra Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, which was also attended by state minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and other officials.
