The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Wednesday declared a reward of up to USD 50,000 for information leading to the arrest of Satinderjeet Singh, aka Goldy Brar. Brar, a designated terrorist in India, is wanted in connection with his alleged involvement in the activities of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang was back in the spotlight after the law enforcement agencies of the US, Canada and Europe –– under ‘Operation Hardball’ –– arrested a total of 24 persons associated with three India-based organised crime groups — Bishnoi, Bhagwanpuria and Dhanda gang. Along with this, the FBI announced a manhunt to apprehend Brar.

Brar, a native of Faridkot in Punjab, had gone to Canada on a student visa in 2017. In India, he is wanted in connection with several criminal cases, including the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was fatally shot dead in the Mansa district of Punjab on May 29, 2022.

According to an official statement from the FBI, “Satinderjeet Singh (Goldy Brar) is wanted for his alleged involvement in the Lawrence Bishnoi Organized Crime Group which is allegedly engaged in a variety of violent acts in Southern California, and across the United States and Canada."

“These acts include assassinations of political and religious figures, shootings, murders, kidnappings, extortions, assaults, and the trafficking of narcotics and weapons. Singh is based in the United States and is the alleged leader of the Group in North America", the release said.

On July 1, a federal warrant was issued against Brar in a California district court after he was charged with Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Conspiracy; Conspiracy to Interfere and Attempted Interference with Commerce by Extortion; and Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances, according to the FBI.

The agency said he should be considered “armed, dangerous, and an escape risk.

Crackdown On Bishnoi Gang

The announcement came after the US federal prosecutors charged gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his aide Goldy Brar with allegedly orchestrating the assassination of Khalistani separatist leader, Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Nijjar, who was described as “HSN" in the federal documents, was shot dead in Surrey, British Columbia on June 18, 2023.

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Bishnoi and Brar were among 37 suspects charged in three federal indictments under ‘Operation Hardball’, a coordinated crackdown against India-based crime groups allegedly involved in violent crimes, extortion, and trafficking of narcotics.

Prosecutors argued that the duo orchestrated the killing of Nijjar, following which two gunmen allegedly shot and killed him outside a Sikh temple in British Columbia.
