Four-time Grand Slam champion Aryna Sabalenka was heard swearing on live television after her thrilling win against Elena Rybakina in the final of the Indian Wells Masters. The former shared her emotions during the gruelling match, giving audiences an unfiltered glimpse into her thoughts.

On Sunday, March 15, Sabalenka and Rybakina battled in the BNP Paribas Open final, with Rybakina taking an early lead by winning the first set 6-3.

Sabalenka fought back to take the second set 6-3, turning the match into a nail-biting decider. In the end, she edged out Rybakina 7-6 (8-6), saving a championship point on her way to claiming the title.

In an interview with The Tennis Channel, Sabalenka opened up about her thoughts during the match’s most tense moments.

“I was like ‘ugh, f**k again’. Like I’m losing these finals, please god not this time," Sabalenka said. Watch the video here:

Sabalenka broke her finals curse against Rybakina, snapping a four-match losing streak in title matches that started at Indian Wells 2023 and included a thriller at the Australian Open in January.

“It was super hot. I was dying there in the tiebreak, but I also saw that she was not feeling her best. So I was trying to push myself basically to the limit. I am super happy that in those last three points of the match, I was able to pull out really great tennis and get the win," Sabalenka told the media.

She came back from a first-set deficit and saved a match point at 5-6 in the tiebreak, claiming the long-awaited title and a satisfying measure of revenge.

“Thanks God I got this trophy," said Sabalenka, who lost to Russian teen Mirra Andreeva in last year’s final.
