Swift police action ensured the safe return of a child who was left asleep in a cab. On February 14, a couple from Bengaluru failed to notice that their 4-year-old child was left asleep in the car while returning from a trip. The car drove away with the child after they got out.

Panicked, the couple soon dialled Namma 112, a helpline number that provides immediate assistance for police, fire, and medical services and narrated the entire incident. Upon hearing the case, the police took swift action, and two officials reached the spot within two minutes. They soon tracked the vehicle number, contacted the cab driver, and asked him to report to the couple’s apartment with the child. The driver confirmed that the child was in the car and soon drove to the couple’s residence within an hour. He handed over the child to the couple.

Police Statement

The police further had a counselling session with the couple and advised them to be cautious to prevent incidents like this.

The incident soon went viral on social media, and it received mixed reactions from the netizens. While people appreciated the efforts by the Bengaluru Police, they also lashed out at the parents for not being careful about their child.

Netizens' reaction

Some of them even questioned the couple’s parental credibility for allegedly not paying enough attention to their child.
