Bengaluru Traffic Police book 1,211 motorists for drunk driving in week-long special drive

The Bengaluru Traffic Police booked 1,211 motorists for drunk driving during a week-long special enforcement drive conducted across the city from July 6 to July 12.

As part of the drive, traffic personnel from all 53 traffic police stations checked 82,909 vehicles for violations related to drunk driving.

The police also launched a simultaneous crackdown on overspeeding, during which 222 cases were registered. A total fine of ₹2,22,300 was collected from overspeeding violators.

According to the traffic police, the special enforcement drive was aimed at curbing drunk driving and overspeeding to improve road safety in Bengaluru.

Officials said similar enforcement drives would continue in the coming weeks to deter traffic violations and reduce road accidents.
