Bharat Bandh on 12th February 2026 live updates: A nationwide ‘bandh’ has been called by a joint forum of 10 trade unions on Thursday, February 12, to protest against the economic policies of the central government.
The ‘bandh’ is expected to be joined by around 30 crore workers, which is likely to disrupt multiple facilities, including banks, transportation, and other services.
Addressing the media, All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) General Secretary Amarjeet Kaur said the scale of participation is expected to surpass previous mobilisations.
“Not less than 30 crore workers will join the strike on February 12. During the July 9, 2025 protest, around 25 crore workers took part,” she said.
Protests Over India-US Trade Deal
The ‘bandh’ has also been backed by farmer organisations. Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SMK) has criticised the recent trade deal between India and the United States, alleging the Narendra Modi-led government surrendered before the “shrewdness of the US”.
“Agreement will be a betrayal against farmers… We are surrendering before the shrewdness of US. The Governmet has surrendered. Piyush Goyal should resign. He betrayed Indian farmers. On this basis, we have started a campaign, from 4th February to 11th February SKM will go to farmers. On 12th, Bharat Bandh has been called over this,” SKM Convenor Hannan Mollah told news agency ANI.
