Congress leader Manish Tewari on Tuesday posted patriotic poetic rhymes on his official X handle, hours after it was known that he would not be among Congress speakers during the debate on ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the Lok Sabha.

In an X post, Tewari quoted a report by Money Control and shared a set of rhymes that were being interpreted as a subtle yet pointed response to his exclusion.

“Hai Preet jahaan ki reet sada, Main geet wahan ke gaata hoon, Bharat ka rehne waala hoon, Bharat ki baat sunata hoon," Tewari wrote on X.

The lines, when roughly translated to English, mean, “Where love is the tradition forever, I sing the songs of that land. I am a resident of India, and I speak of India’s glory."

है प्रीत जहां की रीत सदामैं गीत वहां के गाता हूं

भारत का रहने वाला हूं

भारत की बात सुनाता हूं

Hai preet jahaan ki reet sada

Main geet wahaan ke gaata hoon

Bharat ka rehne waala hoon

Bharat ki baat sunata hoon

Manish Tewari, along with Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who were part of the delegations India sent to partner countries to highlight its stand against cross-border terrorism, were excluded from the speakers’ list on the ‘Operation Sindoor’ debate.

News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that Tewari had sent a request to the party to speak during the debate.

Meanwhile, sources said the Congress wanted Tharoor to join the debate to question the operation, but he reportedly said he thought India’s move was successful. As Congress asked him to toe the party line, Tharoor bluntly refused and chose not to speak in Parliament instead.

When questioned by reporters about the same, Tharoor responded by prompting, “Maunvrat, maunvrat“.
