Bihar Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Sanjay Saraogi on Monday (April 6, 2026) gave a clear indication that soon the BJP would be occupying the top post in the State.
The occasion was the 47th foundation day of the party’s State headquarters, in which top leaders of the state were present, including deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who is the front-runner to succeed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar next week.
Mr. Kumar is likely to take oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha on April 10 and would subsequently step down as Chief Minister on April 12, with a new Chief Minister from the BJP quota possibly taking oath on April 14.
It would be the first time in Bihar that the top post in the State would be occupied by the BJP. Mr. Kumar had recently resigned from the membership of the Bihar Legislative Council on March 30.

Bihar BJP State president Sanjay Saraogi gave a clear hint while addressing the party workers at the State headquarters.
“Bihar is undergoing a transformation and the aspirations held in the hearts of the people of Bihar, too, will soon be realised,”Mr. Saraogi said.
He also recalled former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s famous words saying, “The darkness will lift, the sun will rise, and the lotus will bloom.”
Many individuals hailing from non-political backgrounds formally joined the party. Mr. Saraogi administered the membership oath to all the new members. General Secretary (Organisation) Bhikhu Bhai Dalsaniya, Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, Digha MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia and other leaders were also present.

“The BJP’s rise to becoming the world’s largest political party is the result of the blood and sweat of countless workers, many of whom have even made the ultimate sacrifice,”Mr. Saraogi said.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address delivered on the Foundation Day, he said that the BJP operates on the principles of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas
“Our dedication lies with Mother India, with the crores of citizens of this nation and with the Constitution of the country. Today, the BJP stands as a synonym for development, trust, new ideas, and the nation’s triumph,”Mr. Saraogi said.
He further briefed on the BJP’s working style, describing it as all-inclusive, all-encompassing, and dedicated to the welfare of every section of society. He asserted that the BJP is not merely a political party, but an ideology—one whose core objectives are nation-building and public welfare.
While addressing the party workers, Mr. Choudhary said that, whether at the state level in Bihar or at the national level, the BJP is moving forward with firm commitment.
Mr. Choudhary extended best wishes to the party workers and expressed his wish that the party continues to thrive for the next 4,700 years. He emphasised that once the BJP commits, it never pauses or backs down from it.
“Whether at the state level or at the national level, the BJP is moving forward with firm commitment. Our motto is to uplift the last person to bring them into mainstream society. Prime Minister Modi is currently working to advance this very principle,”Mr. Choudhary said.
