The Bihar Fisheries Department has intensified its crackdown on the sale and trade of banned Thai Magur fish across the state, carrying out raids and seizure operations against traders dealing in the prohibited species. Officials have been confiscating Thai Magur fish and burying the seized stock underground as part of the disposal process.

The department has also launched raids at locations linked to traders involved in the banned fish business. According to experts, consumption of the prohibited Thai Magur fish can lead to several health problems. The state government has appeared to be in an active mode, with strict action now visible even at the ground level.

In Purnia district, authorities have tightened the noose around traders dealing in banned Thai Magur fish, triggering panic among fish merchants. In Baisi area of Purnia, the Fisheries Department seized consignments of Thai Magur fish that were being brought in from West Bengal and buried the confiscated stock underground.

Officials said the department is continuously conducting raids as part of the ongoing crackdown on the illegal trade of the banned fish.
