Dehradun: In his first visit to Uttarakhand since taking charge, BJP national president Nitin Nabin said on Friday that “party’s equation was good” for the upcoming 2027 polls in the hill state.Following back-to-back strategy meetings with party seniors to strengthen the organisation and its social media presence on the second day of his visit, Nabin shared his vision on leadership models, political longevity and youth participation.

“I met party members. I am trying to see the faces behind these faces, and also the faces connected with them. I am trying to give shape to their thought process,” he said.Dismissing the need to replicate strategies from other states, he emphasised that Uttarakhand’s unique mountainous demography requires a localised approach. “People talk about the Assam or West Bengal models. While we used to talk about the Gujarat model, we now have the Yogi model and the Dhami model. The Pushkar Singh Dhami model is quite sufficient for Uttarakhand,” Nabin said.To succeed in politics, Nabin advised party workers to remember that politics is a marathon, not a 100 m sprint. “A 100 m race tests speed, but a marathon tests stamina. To play long innings, you must stay on the pitch,” he said.Highlighting BJP’s deep bond with women voters, Nabin stated that welfare work under Prime Minister

Narendra Modi

has secured a dedicated women’s vote bank across states that will continue to strengthen the party.

On youth entering politics, Nabin said the crucial time for any youngster is when they need to study and look for jobs is between 16 and 28 years. Politics takes time, and it feels like starting from zero again. “The possibility of youth entering politics will only arise at a certain age. It will come when a person is around 30, bringing some stability in business and jobs. The struggle for those in their 30s continues until their 40s.

The success ratio in politics is low compared to education and competitive exams,” he said.Reflecting on his own journey, Nabin shared that despite writing in a slam book during his youth that entering politics would be the “worst day” of his life, circumstances changed his path. He concluded that reaching a certain stage in politics ultimately allows for greater societal change than any other field.
