The State executive of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) adopted three resolutions condemning the Congress government in the state, for alleged mismanagement of Bengaluru, corruption scandals, and what the BJP calls “anti-farmer stances” and “diversion of SC-ST subplan funds”.
BJP’s resolution on Bengaluru attains significance, as it comes ahead of the upcoming civic polls in the city. The party has already begun preparations for the polls, with the party high command appointing a heavy-duty panel under veteran leader Ram Madhav as in-charge.
The resolution opposed the splitting of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) into five corporations and said the new system had only created chaos. It demanded that civic polls be held as per the commitment given to the Supreme Court and not be postponed at any cost. It alleges “D. K. Shivakumar, who showed dreams of Brand Bengaluru, buried them himself,” and the city has been mismanaged under him. It is alleged that most of the projects taken up by him, including tunnel roads, were “commission projects”. Instead of decongesting the city, the government was building five industrial cities around Bengaluru, which will put further pressure, the resolution argued. It condemned the alleged poor maintenance of roads and traffic congestion.
In another resolution, the BJP condemned the Congress government for alleged maladministration, corruption scandals, and anti-farmer stances. It pointed out that the Congress government cut the additional ₹4000 that the earlier BJP government was giving to farmers along with the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. It is alleged that the Congress government imposed a price rise in multiple sectors, including fuel, electricity, and transport, on the common people, burdening them. It is further alleged that the government had failed to control drug menace and law and order in the State.
BJP adopted a resolution condemning the Congress government for alleged diversion of funds from the Scheduled Castes Sub Plan and the Scheduled Tribes Sub Plan to other schemes, thereby violating a law enacted by a Congress government itself. It termed such diversion a betrayal of SC and ST communities in the State.
The State executive adopted a resolution hailing the BJP-led Union government for honouring Vande Mataram and enacting the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025. It can be recalled that the Congress government in the State pushed through a resolution in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly condemning the law, which replaced Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005.
