The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is heading towards a massive victory in the Gujarat municipal elections, securing twelve out of fifteen municipal corporations. The ruling party is advancing with significant leads in Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara. These local body elections are widely considered a semifinal ahead of the state legislative assembly elections scheduled for the end of 2027. To mark the sweeping win, victory celebrations are scheduled at the state headquarters at 4:00 PM, with the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and state president expected to participate. The results also highlight a major setback for the Aam Aadmi Party, which failed to secure double-digit seats in the Surat Municipal Corporation, a sharp decline from the twenty-seven seats it won in the previous election.
