Workers, supporters and youth wing members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged protests across several cities, condemning the Indian Youth Congress for disrupting the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. Demonstrations were reported in Delhi, Surat, Mulund in Maharashtra, Hyderabad and other locations, with BJP activists raising slogans and carrying placards denouncing the Congress.

In Mulund, protesters showed black flags to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi as he traveled to Thane to furnish a fresh surety in a defamation case filed by a worker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

The protests follow a incident at the AI Summit in New Delhi, where around 10 Youth Congress activists staged a shirtless protest, raising slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the India-US trade deal. The protesters wore or carried white T-shirts printed with images of PM Modi and US President Donald Trump.

Security personnel quickly intervened and the activists were arrested for disrupting the high-profile summit, which was attended by global technology leaders including Sam Altman and Sundar Pichai.

BJP chief Nitin Nabin condemned the protest, accusing certain political parties of aligning with “urban Naxalism."

“We often use the term ‘urban Naxalism.’ I can say that while earlier some parties were merely influenced by it, today they have completely become a part of it," he said, adding, “While India is being discussed globally, such a disgraceful act has harmed the country’s progress."

Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister and senior BJP leader, called the incident “absolute shamelessness from Congress."

“At a time Bharat is taking strides positioning itself as a global technology powerhouse, Congress is going all out to embarrass the country. This is not political opposition, this is an attempt at sabotaging India’s global image. Despicable," he wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
