Indore: Burglars broke into a house near Trimurti Lal Haveli in Dhar city during the early hours of Tuesday and decamped with cash and jewellery worth several lakh rupees after locking the family. The theft came to light around 6:30 am when the family of Tarun Khatri woke up and discovered that the door of the first floor, where they had been sleeping, was locked from the outside. After somehow opening the door and reaching the ground floor, they found household items scattered across the rooms and realised that a theft had taken place.Khatri said the burglars are believed to have struck between 3:30 am and 4 am. They reportedly spent considerable time inside the house, ransacking rooms and checking cupboards before escaping with the valuables.Investigators suspect that the accused first broke the lock of the main entrance before entering the house. They then forced open the locks of several rooms and thoroughly searched the premises. Gold and silver ornaments along with Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh, kept inside an almirah, were stolen.Following the complaint, Kotwali police arrived at the scene.
