U.S. Second Lady Usha Vance took a dig at a New York Times fashion critique that shed light on the “political significance" of her inexpensive maternity dress, which she donned in a recent episode of her YouTube series: Storytime with the Second Lady.
While the article delves into the visibility of pregnancy among prominent women in President Donald Trump’s circle, Vance simply joked that it was worth discovering what the critics thought of her “elastic waistband pants and compression socks".

But forsooth, Usha owned the game.
In a post on ‘X’, the Second Lady wrote: “Now that we know the political significance of my $8.75 coral maternity dress from Old Navy, can’t wait to hear what The New York Times has to say about my elastic-waistband pants and compression socks!"

In the final nail in the coffin, Vance attached a screenshot of her Old Navy receipt, showing the dress –– originally priced at USD 49.99 –– had been heavily discounted before it landed on a final cost of just USD 8.75.
