The Fifth Additional Junior Civil Court in Guntur sentenced a 25-year-old man to two years of imprisonment for causing the death of a motorcyclist in a road accident. Judge Kolaru Latha pronounced the verdict on Tuesday, holding the accused responsible under IPC Sections 304(A) and 337.
The incident occurred in 2021 at Perecherla Junction under Medikonduru police station limits. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar the accused, Malampati Srikanth Reddy, a resident of Vemulapadu village in Prakasam district, was driving his car at high speed and in a negligent manner. He rammed his car into a two-wheeler with a couple on it. The accident resulted in the death of Guntupalli Venkateswara Rao and caused severe injuries to his wife.
Following an investigation by the Medikonduru police, a case was registered. The police submitted substantial evidence in the court, which eventually led to the conviction.
