A civic inspection tour in Maharashtra's Mumbai took an unexpected turn when a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) employee fell into an open drain while accompanying officials during a visit led by the city's Mayor.

The incident occurred in Mumbai's Matunga area, where the Mayor and administrative officials were inspecting waterlogged locations and assessing the condition of drains amid continuing rainfall in the city.

According to information available, the BMC worker was carrying out inspection-related work near the drain when he suddenly lost balance and fell into the open channel. The incident unfolded in front of officials and police personnel present at the spot and was captured on camera.

DRAMATIC MOMENT DURING INSPECTION

The Mayor and civic officials were touring the area to review waterlogging and drainage conditions following persistent rain in Mumbai. During the visit, the employee was seen working near the drain before accidentally falling into it.

The unexpected incident triggered immediate concern among those present, with police personnel and officials rushing to the spot.

RESCUE OPERATION LAUNCHED

Officials and police personnel quickly began rescue efforts and managed to pull the worker out safely.

No further details were immediately available regarding any injuries suffered by the employee.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the risks faced by civic workers who operate in challenging conditions during the monsoon season, particularly while inspecting and clearing drainage infrastructure across the city.
