A woman returning home with her child from school faced harassment in broad daylight as a teenager suddenly came from behind and lifted her dress.

The incident, captured in a nearby CCTV footage, took place near Pranati Eesha Apartment in Alkapur Township, under the limits of the Narsingi Police Station in the Manikonda-Neknampur area, at around 1:44 pm on May 14.

NDTV cited the footage showing that the woman could be seen returning from school with her child in her left arm and an umbrella in the other. They had covered their heads to save from the scorching sun. It was at the time a teenager could be seen suddenly coming from behind and lifting her dress.

Shocked with the incident, the woman instantly turned around to chase away the teenager.

According to NDTV, the incident has left residents angry and frightened, with many describing the incident as “disgusting," “traumatic," and a serious reflection of worsening safety concerns for women in residential neighbourhoods.

As the video went viral online, Narsingi police launched an investigation and formed special teams to identify the accused.

NDTV quoted Inspector G Hari Krishna Reddy saying, “We are analysing CCTV footage frame by frame and verifying footage from multiple connecting cameras to track the suspect’s movements."

Police said 50 to 60 CCTV cameras in and around the locality have been inspected as part of the probe.

They further said the victim has not yet approached the police formally, and her identity remains unknown. However, police launched a suo motu investigation to arrest the unidentified accused.
