Central RDPR team inspects MGNREGA works

They inspected ongoing community and individual works, drinking water facilities, and other works under the MGNREGA scheme.

A team of officers from the Union Rural Development Ministry inspected gram panchayat offices in some villages in Belagavi district on February 18 and Bagalkot district on February 19.

They inspected ongoing community and individual works, drinking water facilities, and other works under the MGNREGA scheme. They conducted a special audit of accounts related to MGNREGA works.

They went through record books to see how much money was spent on materials and wages, and if workers were paid on time. They instructed local officers to work with integrity and ensure that all benefits of government programmes reached the deserving beneficiaries.

In Belagavi, the team visited the zilla panchayat office and reviewed the ‘Jal Shakti Kendra’ set up in the office. They expressed their appreciation for the model of various works under MGNREGA. They held a meeting with the zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat officers and sought information about various works.

They also visited Mukhandi, Atha, Halaga and Bastawada gram panchayats of Belagavi taluk and inspected various works and documents in progress under MGNREGA, apart from interacting with the labourers on site. The officials visited a few villages in Hukkeri and Gokak taluks.

They inspected the work at the new lake construction site in Muchandi and also checked the civic information board, drinking water system, and first aid facilities, apart from screening job cards and nominal muster rolls.

The team reviewed the ongoing drain construction work in Ashte village and inspected the roadside plantation construction work in Halaga area and the drain dredging work in Bastawad village.

The team was headed by Bhupendra Kumar. Local officers like zilla panchayat planning unit director Ravi Bangareppanavar, taluk panchayat executive officers Yashwanth Kumar and Ningappa Masali, assistant directors Rajendra Morabada and Basavanth Kademani, and others were present.
