‘Chak De India’ director Shimit Amin to helm Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Captain India’ - Reports

Kartik Aaryan reunites with Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series for 'Captain India', written and produced by Harman Baweja and directed by Shimit Amin, marking his return after 17 years. The film begins shooting in mid-2026 in India and Morocco. Kartik also has upcoming projects with Anurag Basu, Kabir Khan, and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.

After delivering multiple box office hits together, Kartik Aaryan and Bhushan Kumar's production house are teaming up once more. Their partnership has already produced five films, including successes like ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ (2018), ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ (2019), ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ (2022), and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ (2024), all of which performed strongly in theatres.

Continuing this successful streak, the renowned production banner and music label is now backing Kartik’s next big venture, ‘Captain India’.

Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Captain India’ gets T-Series on board

According to Bollywood Hungama, ‘Captain India’ is written and produced by Harman Baweja. Now, T-Series has also joined as a producer, as they saw potential in the story, Kartik’s casting and Shimit Amin’s association as the director. The recce has been completed and the film is expected to go floors in the second quarter of 2026.

It is expected to be filmed in India and Morocco.

Kartik Aaryan’s next film marks Shimit Amin’s return

After a long break of 17 years, director Shimit Amin is making his much-awaited return with ‘Captain India’. Over his career, Amin has helmed three films that have each earned strong admiration from audiences. He burst onto the scene with the intense ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’ (2004), later delivering the highly celebrated ‘Chak De India’ (2007) featuring Shah Rukh Khan. His next film, ‘Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year’ (2009) with Ranbir Kapoor, may not have excelled commercially but eventually became a cult favorite.

Interestingly, ‘Captain India’ was first announced in 2021, with Hansal Mehta attached as the director at that time.

Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming films lined up

Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan and T-Series are also collaborating on another project, a musical film directed by Anurag Basu, which is expected to hit theatres in the second half of 2026.
