In a significant crackdown, Patna police have put an end to an elaborate cheating scheme that was undermining the integrity of constable recruitment physical tests. Authorities detained three suspects who attempted to escape from a government school exam site, where they were allegedly orchestrating fraudulent activities for monetary gain.
Patna: Police have busted a cheating ring involved in the recruitment process for constables in Patna, operating during the physical efficiency test (PET) at a govt school in the Gardanibagh police station area.Sachivalay SDPO-1 Anu Kumari said the action followed a tip-off received on Feb 5. “The police received information about a cheating ring and conducted a raid at the examination centre. Three suspects were caught and arrested while trying to flee. They were allegedly helping candidates cheat in the examination in exchange for money,” she said.Cellphones seized from the arrested suspects contained material linking them to the racket, including photographs of admit cards belonging to several candidates, images related to walkie-talkies and suspicious chat records.
Police also found evidence of large financial transactions, suggesting the operation involved organised and large-scale cheating.Anu Kumari said two candidates were also arrested during the PET for using impersonators in the written examination. “These candidates had cleared the written test using fake identities but were caught during the physical test. All arrested persons have been sent to jail, and efforts are on to identify and arrest other members of the gang,” she said.
