Chhattisgarh: School van overturns in Janjgir-Champa, teacher and 15 students injured

RAIPUR: At least 15 schoolchildren and a teacher were injured after a school van overturned in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district on Wednesday morning. The accident took place near Ramnagar–Kuthur road in Nawagarh block when a van carrying students of a private school lost control and overturned multiple times.

The impact of the crash triggered panic in the area, with local residents rushing to the spot and launching immediate rescue efforts. According to preliminary information, the vehicle was on its way from Mudpar village to Kuthur, ferrying children to school, when it rammed into a tractor parked along the roadside and flipped over.On receiving information, Pamgarh police reached the site and evacuated the injured children and the teacher from the mangled vehicle.

All victims were taken to the district hospital in Janjgir for treatment.Officials said several children suffered head injuries while others sustained fractures and bruises on their hands and legs. The condition of all injured is reported to be stable.Preliminary findings suggest that the vehicle losing control led to the accident, though authorities are examining all possible factors, including driver negligence and road conditions.
