A Chinese academic is drawing attention for his strong views on the ongoing West Asia conflict and what could happen next. He is known for making bold predictions. Now, he has warned about a situation between the US and Iran that could put Donald Trump in a tough position.

Jiang Xueqin, often called “China’s Nostradamus," has been widely discussed after some of his past predictions seemed to match real events. He runs a YouTube channel called Predictive History, where he shares his views on global politics and conflicts.

He had earlier said that the United States would struggle in a war against Iran. He also predicted that Donald Trump would step back from his strongest threats. This gained attention after Trump agreed to a two-week ceasefire instead of carrying out his earlier warning to “end" Iranian civilisation.

But Jiang also made another point, which he believes could be more serious in the long run. He said that even if the US tries to avoid it, American ground forces may eventually be sent into Iran. According to him, the US could get pulled deeper into the conflict because air strikes alone may not be enough.

He explained that Iran has been handling the situation carefully, even though it may not have the same level of military power. Jiang believes Iran is controlling how the conflict moves forward, while the US is following a more fixed plan.

As per The Express, he told his students, “Calibration is ultimately about strategic flexibility. The person with the most options and a flexible strategy will usually win the fight." His view is that being able to adjust quickly is more important than having stronger weapons.

Jiang has also reportedly criticised how the US plans its military actions. He described its strategy as an “inverted pyramid," where air power is given more importance and ground troops are limited. He believes this approach does not work well in long and difficult wars.

In an online lecture in 2024, he made three major predictions. He said, “In this class and in this semester. I am making three big predictions: first, Trump will win in November. Second is that the United States will go to war against Iran, and the third prediction is that the US will lose this war, which will forever change the global order."

He also compared the situation to the Sicilian Expedition, when Athens launched a major campaign against Sparta during the Peloponnesian War.
