CM hands over appointment letters to 4,954 ANMs

In a strategic move to enhance healthcare in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar proudly handed out appointment letters to 4,954 newly-recruited Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs). This is a vital step towards reinforcing health services, especially in rural regions where the demand for skilled professionals is critical.

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday handed over appointment letters to 4,954 newly-appointed Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) at a function held here. During the ceremony, he symbolically handed over appointment letters to three ANMs — Vineeta Kumari, Swati Kumari, and Raushni Kumari.Congratulating the newly-appointed ANMs and extending his best wishes, the CM said he was confident that all of them would carry out their responsibilities with honesty, commitment, and dedication. He expressed hope that their services would further strengthen the healthcare system and benefit people across the state.According to an official, all selected ANMs have been directed to report to the office of their respective district civil surgeons by April 20.

The appointments were made by the State Health Society for deployment in govt hospitals and health centres across Bihar.The large-scale recruitment drive was undertaken to address staff shortages and reinforce maternal and child healthcare services, particularly in rural and remote areas where access to medical support remains limited. Officials said the appointments have been made under the National Health Mission.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, state health minister Mangal Pandey said the appointment of 4,954 ANMs was essential to strengthen the functioning of health sub-centres across Bihar. He said the state currently has 14,600 health sub-centres and Ayushman Arogya Kendras, spread across villages and panchayats, reflecting the govt’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure in rural regions.Pandey also said the health department alone has recruited 20,000 personnel over the past year, underlining the govt’s continued focus on expanding and reinforcing the public health system.Among those present at the event were deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha; water resources minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary; principal secretary to the CM Deepak Kumar; secretary of health department Lokesh Kumar Singh; secretary to the CM Chandrashekhar Singh; managing director of Bihar Health Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited Amit Kumar Pandey; DM Thiyagrajan SM; SSP Kartikey K Sharma, other senior officials, and the ANMs who received their appointment letters.
