Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to ensure justice for victims of the AgriGold scam within six months and ordered constitution of a three-member committee to oversee the process.
The decision was taken during the State Cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister at the Secretariat on Thursday.
Mr. Naidu held discussions with the Ministers and senior officials on several key issues, including compensation and relief measures for AgriGold depositors.
The committee would examine all aspects related to the scam and recommend measures to provide relief to victims who lost their savings after investing in AgriGold schemes, he said.
According to the Chief Minister, the AgriGold scam affected nearly 19 lakh people across eight States, with more than 11 lakh victims belonging to Andhra Pradesh alone. He stressed that all those who had been cheated after investing their money in the company must receive justice without fail.
Mr. Naidu also alleged that some key officials associated with the previous government were involved in misappropriating funds linked to the case. Expressing strong displeasure, he alleged that certain CID officials during the previous regime had benefited from the scam proceeds.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to resolving the long-pending issue, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to expedite the process and ensure that victims received relief within the stipulated time frame.
