CPM cautions public against false stories on its assembly polls’ review

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretariat has asked the public to reject stories fabricated by a section of the media regarding the assembly election review report approved by the state committee. This time, the election review was prepared after discussions across various CPM units, incorporating their inputs.

The final report was drafted and endorsed after examining the points raised during those discussions. Also, public feedback was invited via social media and online, it said.“Through this, CPM is advancing an unusually extensive scrutiny, unprecedented in Kerala’s political history. But propaganda campaigns are being orchestrated to weaken this broad and exemplary initiative,” said the state secretariat on Monday.

CPM carries out organizational work that upholds democratic centralism and inner-party democracy. Those who do not understand this organizational practice are leading these misleading campaigns, it added.Meanwhile, party state secretary M V Govindan rejected reports that at Thiruvananthapuram district committee meeting, he had asserted that nobody should dream of replacing him and Pinarayi Vijayan from the party secretary and opposition leader posts. It is for the first time that CPM is responding to each and every report that seek to present a picture different from that of its official version of the developments in the party.

The party as a whole conducted a detailed review of assembly election defeat. By examining the criticisms raised by party workers at branch meetings, the party is making necessary corrections. The party can criticize and correct a functionary if he makes a mistake; this applies to all functionaries, he said. Also, CPM is seeking public opinions to face the challenges in the new era and it has received tens of thousands of suggestions. This shows the people’s trust and love for CPM. Considering their suggestions, CPM will formulate an action plan at the expanded state committee planned in Aug, said Govindan.
