Broadcasters DAZN were forced to issue an apology to their humongous FIFA Club World Cup viewership after Chelsea star Cole Palmer’s explicit rant on air following the great triumph over Paris Saint-Germain in the marquee tournament final on Sunday, July 13.

As Palmer proved to be the difference for the Premier League side against the Champions League winners, he made scathing remarks for those who gave Chelsea little chance to clinch the prestigious club title.

Calling out the naysayers during a post-match interview, Palmer held no bar and used colourful language to say, “Everyone has talked a lot of sh*t about us all season." Here, the camera was instantly cut from the English footballer because of the slip-up in language. DAZN followed that up shortly with an apology to the fans for any offence caused.

Palmer rose to the big occasion for Enzo Maresca’s side, helping them attain the Club World Cup glory in New Jersey with his terrific performance under pressure. The 23-year-old struck two fantastic goals as Chelsea defeated the in-form PSG side 3-0 at the MetLife Stadium. Palmer’s memorable twin strikes came within eight minutes of each other before his assist set up Joao Pedro for Chelsea’s third goal that pushed the Premier League side to one of their finest victories.

Palmer’s excellent performance secured him the player of the tournament award, which he received from US President Donald Trump.

“It’s a great feeling. Even better because everyone doubted us before the game, we knew that. To put a fight on like we did, it’s good. I like finals. It’s happened again," the Englishman said.

“The gaffer put a great game plan out. He knew where the space was going to be. He tried to free me up as much as possible and I just had to repay him and score some goals. He is building something special, something important."

Delighted with the title win and his team’s attacking brand of play, coach Maresca said, “I have no words for the players. For me, we won the game in the first ten minutes. We set the tempo, we knew the way we wanted to play. Today we found a position for Cole where there was more space to attack. The effort from all the players has been fantastic."
