Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar on Tuesday informed the District Irrigation Advisory Board (DIAB) that works worth ₹303 crore would commence by April-end in the Central and Western Godavari Delta in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district.
The DIAB members, along with officials from the Water Resources and Rural Water Supply authorities, met on Tuesday to discuss preparations for the Kharif season, maintenance and operation of irrigation infrastructure of the Godavari Delta and the Godavari Pushkarams-2027. Mr. Mahesh Kumar said that works worth ₹153 crore have been proposed for the Godavari Pushkarams.
“The supply of irrigation will be halted in the Central and Western Delta from April 15 to carry out repairs of irrigation locks at an estimated cost of ₹150 crore, including ₹25 crore under operation and maintenance component for irrigation facilities such as canals,” said Mr. Mahesh Kumar.
The DIAB members and MLC K. Suryanarayana advised District Collector to evict the encroachments along the banks of the irrigation locks to install solar panels in the Godavari delta. District Water Users Association members, Irrigation Department Superintendent Engineer (Dowleswaram Circle) G. Srinivas along with other officials attend the meeting.
