US Vice President JD Vance on Monday said Iranian negotiators did not walk out of the Switzerland talks with the United States, but acknowledged that there were threats from Tehran to leave the table during the discussions, following US President Donald Trump’s warning of possible strikes on Iran.
Vance made the remarks while speaking to reporters after a first round of high-level negotiations aimed at advancing a framework to end the war. The talks were held at the Burgenstock resort in Switzerland and mediated by Qatar and Pakistan.
“They didn’t throw a wrench… but they did threaten to walk out… we were negotiating well past 1AM. So, they didn’t walk out. Their technical team is still here working with ours," the US vice president said.
