Minister for Energy Gottipati Ravi Kumar on Monday announced that surplus electricity generated by beneficiaries of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana would be purchased by power distribution companies (DISCOMs) both for domestic and agricultural purposes.
Accompanied by Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, Mr. Ravi Kumar formally inaugurated a rooftop solar panel at the residency of a beneficiary in Bhimavaram on Monday.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Mr. Ravi Kumar said; “Under the PM Kusum scheme, farmers will receive 9 hours of quality solar power during daytime. Tenders have been invited for the initiative.”
On promoting solar power, Mr. Ravi Kumar added that a target has been set to provide 2,000 solar connections to SC and ST families and 6,000 connections for families belonging to Backward and Other Castes in each Assembly constituency.
MLAs Pulaparthi Ramanjaneyaulu, Pitani Satyanarayana, Rajya Sabha MP Paka Satyanarayana, TDP District president Mantena Rama Raju, and District Collector Chadalavada Nararani were present.
