DMK moves DVAC against ministers Anand, Nirmalkumar

Chennai: DMK deputy organising secretary P Thayagam Kavi on Wednesday filed a complaint with directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption, seeking action against ministers N Anand and R Nirmalkumar over alleged corruption in the appointment of govt law officers across Tamil Nadu.In his complaint, Kavi alleged that intermediaries collected bribes from aspirants by using the names of the two ministers and promising appointments as govt pleaders, additional govt pleaders and public prosecutors. He urged DVAC to examine bank transactions, call records and witness statements to trace the alleged money trail and ascertain whether the funds reached or benefited the ministers.The complaint named advocates Lenin Jayapalan and Parthiban as alleged intermediaries and claimed irregularities in Villupuram, Madurai, Tirupattur and Dharmapuri districts.

It alleged that appointments were made in exchange for payments ranging from ₹3 lakh to ₹10 lakh, while deserving candidates were ignored.Kavi also cited a pending writ petition before the Madras high court concerning appointments in Villupuram, alleging that the selection process lacked transparency and proper scrutiny. He sought registration of an FIR under the Prevention of Corruption Act and a comprehensive DVAC investigation into the alleged appointment racket.
