Jaipur: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Jaipur arrested an African-origin foreign woman and seized drugs worth around Rs 2.56 crore in the international market allegedly from her possession.The accused was intercepted Tuesday while travelling in a Mumbai-bound bus from Delhi. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, DRI officials conducted a detailed search of her trolley bag and recovered 2,256 grams of methamphetamine, 142 grams of cocaine and methaqualone, and 46 grams of MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy tablets.An officer, requesting anonymity, said the narcotic substances were concealed inside clothes, pillow covers and other items in the trolley bag to evade detection by law enforcement agencies.“The total value of the seized narcotics in the international illegal market is estimated at around Rs 2.56 crore,” the officer said.Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was allegedly transporting the contraband to other states as part of a larger trafficking network. Following the seizure, she was arrested under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.The accused was produced before a court Wednesday, which remanded her to judicial custody and sent her to jail.
Officials said further investigation is underway to identify other people linked to the smuggling racket, including suppliers, handlers and members of the distribution network. The agency is also probing possible interstate and international links of the syndicate.DRI officials described the seizure as one of the significant anti-drug operations carried out by the Jaipur unit in recent months.
