‘Drishyam 3’ director's view: Jeethu Joseph calls Mohanlal film emotional thriller

Jeethu Joseph says ‘Drishyam 3’ is an emotional thriller, not a film built only on twists and mind games. The director opened up about the much-awaited Mohanlal starrer and said the idea for the third part came after ‘Drishyam 2’.

He also revealed that Mohanlal, whom fans call Lalettan, had asked him about a possible third film, which pushed him to develop the story further.

In an interview with Mathrubhumi English, Jeethu Joseph said the next chapter of ‘Drishyam’ will keep the emotional core of Georgekutty’s family at the center. The filmmaker said, “After watching Drishyam 2, Lalettan casually asked if there would be a third part; I said I don’t know, but if it happens, the climax should be like this.”He added that Mohanlal liked the idea and asked him to develop it. Jeethu said the process took time because he did not want to make another film only because the franchise had business value. He said he made it clear to producer Antony Perumbavoor that he was not doing the film for money.The director also addressed the tone of ‘Drishyam 3’. He said the film will not depend on heavy mind games. Instead, it will move through emotion, drama, and the pressure that surrounds Georgekutty and his family.
