Even though the IndiGo flight disruptions entered the sixth day on Sunday, the total number of flight cancellations came down at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

On Sunday morning, airport officials reported that 150 flights were cancelled which included 76 arrivals and 75 departures.

However, unlike the previous days when the final number of flights cancelled shot up significantly as the day progressed, on Sunday, only one additional outbound flight was cancelled as the total number of cancelled stood at 151.

Though returning to normal operations would take some more days, there has been a small improvement in flight operations to and from Bengaluru compared to the previous days.

On December 5, the total cancellations were 165 and on the previous day 292 were cancelled.

The airline said that it has resumed operations to 137 out of 138 destinations and the overall flight numbers also improved to 1,650, compared to 1,500 flights the previous day.

Meanwhile, other airlines have also announced measures to help those stranded reach their destinations in view of the widespread disruptions.

Air India and Air India Express have announced measures to help those stranded reach their destinations which include capping of airfares and waiver of change or cancellation fees.

“Guests who booked their flights with either carrier until December 4 for travel until December 15 can reschedule their bookings to a future date without paying the applicable rescheduling fee (within the validity of the purchased ticket, as applicable) or can cancel their bookings with full refund (without any cancellation fee applied). This one-time waiver is applicable for a change or cancellation made until December 8. Fare difference, if any, in case of rescheduling will apply,” the airline said.

Regional airline FLY91 has announced a waiver on convenience fees on every booking made through its official website for December.
