The first meeting of the newly formed executive committee of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) here on Wednesday decided to set up an inquiry committee in connection with the ‘memory card’ controversy that erupted a few days ahead of the association’s election.

Actor Shwetha Menon, president of the association, said a decision on the members of the inquiry committee will be taken at the next meeting. A time frame will be set for completing the probe, she said.

Apprehensions of leakage

The memory card issue rocked the actors’ body after a section of the actors alleged that a meeting of the women members held in 2018 in the wake of the formation of the K. Hema Committee by the State government was video-graphed and preserved as a memory card. Actor Usha Haseena, who raised doubts over the whereabouts of the said memory card amidst apprehensions of its leakage, filed a complaint before the association leadership.

A few of the actors who raised the issue in the public domain cornered actor Kukku Parameswaran, the new general secretary, over the issue though she rejected the allegations. She also lodged a petition with the State Police Chief naming her detractors for allegedly engaging in a defamatory campaign against her, including on social media.
