Following the swearing-in ceremony of the new UDF government in Kerala, attention has now shifted to the official vehicle numbers allotted to the Chief Minister and cabinet ministers — numbers that are often seen as carrying symbolic political significance within the ruling alliance.

Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan has been allotted the official vehicle bearing the red-coloured plate “Kerala State 1", traditionally reserved for the head of the government.

Like previous administrations, ministers in the Kerala government have been assigned vehicles with special red-number plates carrying “Kerala State" markings. While officially administrative in nature, the numbering system is widely viewed in political circles as an informal reflection of a leader’s stature and influence within the government and alliance structure.

Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has been allotted “Kerala State 2", while IUML veteran P. K. Kunhalikutty received “Kerala State 3".

Here is the full list of official vehicle numbers allotted to ministers:

No. 1: V. D. Satheesan

No. 2: Ramesh Chennithala

No. 3: P. K. Kunhalikutty

No. 4: Sunny Joseph

No. 5: K. Muraleedharan

No. 6: Mons Joseph

No. 7: Shibu Baby John

No. 8: Anoop Jacob

No. 9: C. P. John

No. 10: A. P. Anilkumar

The allocation of official vehicle numbers has long attracted public and political interest in Kerala, with lower numbers often informally associated with seniority and prominence within the cabinet.
