U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday fired Attorney General Pam Bondi, days after the release of ‘Epstein Files’ — documents linked to the probe into the network of late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Reuters, quoting sources, suggests Trump felt Bondi was “not moving quickly enough to prosecute critics and adversaries whom he wanted to face criminal charges."

“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year," President Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector", he added.

Bondi’s exit has been long speculated as she received brickbats from both sides, with Democrats threatening to impeach her and some conservatives calling for removal from office. Let’s take a look at Bondi’s tenure.

The Epstein Files Episode

Bondi became the face of the Trump admin’s handling of the so-called ‘Epstein Files’. Upon taking the office post his presidential win, Trump had vowed to release the Epstein Files.

Bondi, as attorney general, was charged with publicly sharing the information linked to the files, Axios reports.

After the Department of Justice (DOJ) released over 100 pages of Epstein Files in February 2025, Bondi asked FBI director Kash Patel to find out why all documents hadn’t been released, the report added.

Later, the files were released over several months, fueling questions over transparency.

Ex-FBI Agent Sued Bondi

According to the Axios report, a trio of FBI agents sued Bondi, Patel, the DOJ, and the FBI earlier this week after they were sacked for their performance on investigating Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Face-Off With Congress

Pam Bondi’s actions became the subject of turbulent Congressional hearings. In February 2026, she lashed out at Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the committee’s ranking member, saying, “You don’t tell me anything, you washed-up, loser lawyer!"

Bondi also slammed Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), a key face behind the push to release the Epstein files, who questioned her about allegations that the DOJ redacted key information from them.

She called him a “failed politician", alleging he had “Trump derangement syndrome".

Trump’s Retribution Campaign

Bondi was pressured by Trump to charge his enemies under a retribution campaign. This included plans to charge ex-FBI director James Comey, New York Attorney General Letitia James and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Axios reported.

However, none of the cases have been successful so far.

Became Subject To Internet Memes

Bondi came under social media radar when she pointed to stock market gains and Trump’s political achievements when asked about the Epstein Files.

“The Dow is over 50,000 right now," she claimed, saying, “That’s what we should be talking about", the report said.
